Barings adds to real estate debt and ESG teams

Investment manager Barings has appointed Georgia Videan as associate director of loan closing in Europe & APAC, and Imogen Waters as ESG analyst in its European Real Estate Equity and Debt division.

Joining the Barings Real Estate team in London, Videan has most recently been part of the property funds team at Gresham, the leading independent Australian-owned advisory and funds management business. In that role, Videan’s responsibilities included drafting and presenting investment papers and liaising directly with core investors on existing projects, future opportunities, and fund performance.

Prior to that, she worked at MinterEllison, Australia’s largest law firm, where she acted in a transactional and advisory capacity for a variety of clients, ranging from large institutional banks such as Commonwealth Bank and National Australia Bank, and mezzanine leaders including Metrics Credit Partners, to listed and unlisted property developers and funds.

At Barings, Videan will be responsible for the closing and execution of real estate debt investments in Europe and APAC.

Waters, who will also join the investment manager’s growing team in London, will be responsible for supporting the evolution and implementation of Barings Real Estate’s ESG strategy, alongside director of European real estate ESG, Kristina Arsenievich. He had previously worked at Workman, where as part of the ESG team she was responsible for identifying carbon reduction strategies, with additional focus on social value, community engagement and biodiversity across portfolios.

Prior to this, Waters worked as an international PR executive at Knight Frank, where she supported the team on research and communications on ESG and net zero, as well as the property giant’s landmark The Wealth Report thought leadership content.
