Multi country and/or multi sector funds show highest total global expense ratios

This year’s Management Fees and Terms Study recorded an average total global expense ratio (TGER) of 0.95% on GAV and 1.51% on NAV, based on a sample of 61 funds. When accounting for vehicles’ size, the weighted average TGER was 1.02% based on GAV and 1.35% based on NAV.  

Key highlights include: 

  • Core – Open end funds report lower expense ratios with an average of 0.77% on GAV 
  • Core funds show limited differences in TGERs based on fund size 
  • Funds with a multi country and /or multi sector strategies show the highest average TGERs of 1.22% on GAV 
  • Residential and retail funds show the lowest TGERs amongst single sector strategy funds 
  • ODCE funds exhibit low and comparable TGERs for multi sector – multi country strategies
