Real estate assets across Europe record a significant drop in performance

The INREV pan-European quarterly Asset Level Index recorded a total return of 0.55% in Q1 2020, down from 2.42% posted over the previous quarter.

Key highlights of the INREV Asset Level Index Q1 2020:

  • Income return has remained stable at 0.96% observed over the quarter. Capital growth recorded a significant drop to -0.40%, down from 1.45% posted over Q4 2019
  • The Netherlands remained resilient with a total quarterly return of 2.19%, while the UK market continues to underperform with a total return of as low as -1.32%
  • Residential sector remains on top, regardless of a drop in total return to 2.28%, down from 3.46% recorded in the previous quarter
