Italian investors power a real estate revolution
Despite the problems in its banking sector, Italy continues to see strong growth in the assets of institutional investors. Pension funds and life insurance companies are benefiting from strong positive inflows, thanks largely to the pension law reforms that have been introduced over the last two decades.
These have transformed the Italian pension system from a defined-benefit to a defined-contribution structure. Meanwhile assets under management have grown by almost 10% per annum since 2008.
