We welcomed over 800 registrations for the INREV Annual Conference and for 22% of those who dialed in on day one of the three day event – this was their first INREV Annual Conference they had attended.
Under the overarching theme of ‘Reinvention for Resilience: Getting ready for the new normal’, the first day focused on two key areas:
- The current economic outlook
- The impact of COVID-19: Moving from outbreak to long term adaptation
We were delighted to welcome Linda Yueh, Fellow in Economics, St Edmund Hall, Oxford University who shared a positive outlook for Europe as we move into the recovery stage of the pandemic. Linda cited job retention and creation as key to economic recovery, and that green jobs and investment, teleworking, the growth of digital trade and services and the vastly expanding middle class are key trends that will help drive Europe’s economy forward.
An esteemed panel of industry experts came together to discuss the impacts of the pandemic on the key real estate sectors. The experts told the audience how real estate is becoming more operational with increased synergies between the sectors, moving toward the ‘hotelisation of…’ where we will start to provide an experience by offering hotel like services and hospitality.
The audience also heard how connectivity will continue to play a pivotal role and how the future of retail will go hand in hand with the future of the city where growth is fueled by urbanization and changing consumer behavior.
Stay tuned to the INREV twitter account @INREVNews where we’ll be sharing live insights from the event over the next two days. If you don’t manage to catch this years annual conference, all presentations and recordings will be available for members to play back after the event.
