Pension funds dominate Finland's institutional investment landscape

The Finnish edition of the Investor Universe Study focuses on Investors domiciled in Finland. The study looks at real estate's role in Finnish institutional investment, describing the overall investment landscape as well as investigating investors' motivations for holding real estate, and the ways these are being implemented. 
The study is the second in a series of 8 country specific studies which explore the institutional investor landscape and the size of the institutional universe.
Key highlights include:

  • The primary reason for holding real estate is diversification in the multi-asset portfolio
  • Finnish investors dominate the domestic real estate market, but their share is decreasing
  • Finnish institutional investors have a strong future commitment to real estate
  • Core European investments look set to play a growing role in investor portfolios
  • ESG concerns are seen as even more important than elsewhere in Europe
