Committee supports expansion into new locations

With INREV’s courses becoming increasingly popular, the Training and Education Committee has been supporting their expansion into new locations as well as the addition of new topics.

In March, INREV will hold a training course in Stockholm for the first time with a one-day course on Current Issues in Regulatory Affairs: AIFM Directive. “This is a key topic for fund managers this year so we want to make sure that we make this training course accessible for all parts of our membership. We’re very pleased about the response that we’ve already had for the course,” said Peter de Haas, Chairman of the Training and Education Committee.

Another training format – the Link and Learn seminars for Young Professionals – is taking the same approach. It was also in Stockholm in February, where 13 participants joined the breakfast event to learn about the Nordic real estate financing market. The next event will be organised in the second quarter in Frankfurt. “These seminars mean that attendees get updated on a market-related topic and get the chance to meet peers, which is a very effective combination,” said de Haas.

The education programme will go even further afield this summer when it holds the first course in New York. This will cover the latest trends shaping the European non-listed funds industry such as investors’ strategies and requirements, and key regulatory issues. It will also help to fulfil one of INREV’s aims for 2013 to promote INREV globally, as well as providing an on-the-ground service to its members in North America.

Back in Europe, the committee is also supporting the development of the Investor Relations and Communication course in Amsterdam on Tuesday 9 April. “This is a new type of course which moves away from purely technical issues and addresses important communication aspects of the relationship between investors and fund managers,” said de Haas.

INREV will also hold eight webinars, which again make information accessible to all members and offer updates on INREV Research and Professional Standards as well as the latest real estate trends.

INREV will also hold eight webinars, which again make information accessible to all members and offer updates on INREV Research and Professional Standards as well as the latest real estate trends. The first webinar on INREV Net Asset Value was held in January followed by the webinar on the results of INREV Investment Intentions Survey which took place in February.

Finally, this year will see a change of leadership within the committee with de Haas planning to step down as Chairman. De Haas has been Chairman since the inception of the committee and seen its activities become a core part of INREV’s offer. There are also two new committee members with Jeroen Reijnoudt from Mn Services and Witsard Schaper from Franklin Templeton.
