Welcome - July 2021

This edition of the IQ is published just a couple of weeks after the INREV Young Professionals Seminar where we were joined by 150 of tomorrow’s leaders to look at the latest trends and hot topics under the theme of ‘Open for business: preparing for a post COVID world’ and you can read some of the key highlights in this edition. One of the topics discussed was life sciences – a sector hot pick which is also highlighted in this IQ and to the surprise of some, is not something new to our industry.

Continuing the theme of ‘Young Professionals’, we were pleased to interview Mike Hasselgren from NREP and part of the INREV under-35 community in this edition’s member profile where you can read his thoughts on what draws today’s talent to our industry, and what being part of INREV means for Young Professionals and what this encompasses, including for some taking part in one of the 11 committees  – of which are now actively welcoming applications until 24  September, so I encourage you all to apply if you’d like to take a more active role in the non-listed real estate industry.

We have two contributed articles from committee members in this edition looking at measuring liquidity in direct real estate markets, and also looking at Asset to Fund level performance.

We are gearing up to review the INREV Guidelines – one of the main pillars of INREV and you can read more about this project due to begin after the summer in this edition. This review will ensure that the Guidelines reflect the latest issues and trends as the industry evolves with a focus on ESG and more of a focus on granular asset level data  to name just two of the major themes of this project.

I hope you enjoy this edition of the IQ and look forward to seeing you again in person, soon.
