Younger vintages report low IRRs 

The Q4 2020 Global IRR Index reveal more than a 10% difference between the lowest and highest average IRRs

The fifth Global IRR Index release includes 319 closed end funds across vintages from pre-2002 to 2018 with a non-core manager defined strategy.

Key highlights:

  • Funds launched in 2018 and 2017 showed low average IRRs in Q4 2020 at just around 7.0%. 
  • The strongest performing 2013 vintage delivered an average IRR of 18.3%  
  • Multi country funds launched after 2016 show a sharp improvement in Q4 of 2020 to 12.1%, almost double from 6.2% reported in Q3 2020
