January was a busy month for the INREV Academy, with our first two courses of the year providing practical insights into performance measurement and real estate investment structures.
The Performance Measurement Analysis course was hosted by PATRIZIA SE in London on 15 January, exploring how fund- and asset-level performance is calculated, interpreted, and reported. Participants gained hands-on experience with INREV tools, peer comparisons, and a case study to apply their learning. Led by Ray Adderley (Nuveen Real Estate), the programme featured:
- Julia Ashford (Europa): building blocks for calculating real estate performance
- Bert Teuben (INREV): INREV tools for performance measurement
- Mark Clacy-Jones (Aberdeen): interpreting and reporting performance measures
- Edd Azzopardi (UBS Unified Global Alternatives): multi-manager perspective on performance measurement
The Investing in Joint Ventures and Club Deals course in Munich on 27 January offered practical guidance on the investor rationale, structuring, governance, regulatory and tax considerations, and a negotiation-based case study. Highlights included:
- Mario Pellò (Nuveen Real Estate): investor perspective
- Simone Pozzato (Hines): investment manager perspective
- Adnan Bhaiji (Goodwin): governance
- Emily Harmsworth (Linklaters): regulatory frameworks
- Patricia Gudiño Jonas (EY): tax considerations
Adnan noted it was “a genuinely insightful and highly recommended course for anyone in real estate—operators, GPs, and investors alike.”
Both courses demonstrated the value of INREV Academy’s hands-on approach, combining technical insight, real-life experience, and peer exchange.
