The fourth release of the Global IRR Index: interquartile range narrows for younger vintage funds

The latest Global IRR Index release  includes 318 closed end funds across vintages from pre-2002 to 2018 with a non-core manager defined strategy.

Key highlights include:

  • Funds launched in 2005 and 2006 delivered the lowest performance with an equally weighted IRR of 0.8% and -1.0%, respectively
  • The youngest group of the Index (post-2016 vintages) delivered a Q3 IRR of 4.2% on an equally weighted basis, notably up from 2.1% reported in Q2 2020
  • Funds with 2018 as a launch year showed the greatest reduction in the interquartile range
