Leading European real estate companies Catella and Edge announced – subject to antitrust approval – the establishment of a joint venture to develop Edge's first build-to-rent residential project (BTR) in Germany. The partnership is a strategic step for both companies: for Edge it means entry into the German housing market, for Catella it means strengthening its position as an important partner for innovative, sustainable urban living.
The project is located in Berlin's lively Neukölln district and comprises around 92 high-quality residential units as well as 1,600 square metres of retail space and bears the working title SILBERlin. This will create new apartments and facilities in one of the most dynamic districts of the capital. Only a few hundred meters from the Hermannstraße underground and S-Bahn station, the construction project benefits from excellent transport connections and its central location.
Within walking distance of Tempelhofer Feld, the largest inner-city park in Europe, and in close proximity to the cultural centre of Kreuzberg, the project was designed with long-term sustainability and positive impact on the surrounding area in mind. After its completion, the building will be one of the most energy-efficient residential buildings in Germany. Edge and Catella expect to receive the building permit at the turn of the year; the start of construction will follow immediately.
