EMIR Refit topic of June Tax and Regulations Briefing

EMIR, the 2012 European Markets Infrastructure Regulation addressing use and handling of derivatives, is being revised. 
On Thursday 28 June, Jeff Rupp, INREV Director of Public Affairs, will highlight proposed Commission and Parliament amendments that will determine how changes to regulations impacting real estate managers’ use of interest rate and currency swaps to manage risk will be addressed in upcoming trilogue negotiations.

NREP today announced that it has recruited Ludwig Holmgren, the Head of Capital Introduction at SEB, to join its team. Mr. Holmgren has more than 20 years’ experience working across the spectrum of alternative investments in the Nordics.

Cromwell Property’s European head Kirkby joins Avignon Capital

David Kirkby the managing director of Cromwell Property Group’s European business has joined Avignon Capital.
The €700 million European property investment firm said it has appointed Kirkby as director of capital accounts to help drive the company’s growth plan.
Kirkby was the CEO of Valad Europe prior to it being acquired by Australia’s Cromwell. He led Cromwell’s European business following the takeover and later became an executive director.

AXA Investment Managers - Real Assets appoints Justin Travlos as UK Head of Asset Management

AXA Investment Managers - Real Assets (“AXA IM - Real Assets”), a global leader in real asset investments and the leading(1) real estate portfolio and asset manager in Europe, announces the appointment of Justin Travlos to the role of UK Head of Asset Management, effective 18th June. In addition, after almost thirty years with the firm, Dorrien Thomas has announced that he will retire at the end of 2018. After what will be an extended handover period, Justin will assume responsibility for the UK business as UK Country Team Head effective 1st January 2019.

Columbia Threadneedle builds infrastructure team, hires Schupp to head

Columbia Threadneedle Investments is setting up an infrastructure business to offer clients in Europe access to the asset class.
The €395 billion asset manager has hired three senior managers to join Heiko Schupp who has been appointed to the newly created role of global head of infrastructure investments.
Schupp joins from Hastings Fund Management where he was a senior portfolio manager.
