Portfolio Construction

,

The INREV online course Portfolio Construction consists of a series of five sessions spread over a period of two weeks from 23 June to 30 June 2021 and focuses on constructing a non-listed real estate portfolio in today's market

The course examines how investors decide their allocations to real estate and build optimal portfolios by size, location and what products are available in the market. This is addressed from the fundamentals of portfolio construction theory and its possible applications as well as the limitations of real estate portfolios.

It looks at real estate investment strategies and the role of real estate in a multi asset portfolio focusing on non-listed real estate vehicles including real life examples.

The course also addresses the role of debt in a real estate portfolio and considers important strategic issues such as developments, fees, risk strategies and fund manager selection.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Investor approaches to portfolio construction
  • How to build the optimal target portfolio taking into account market and other limitations
  • Issues such as risk/return approaches and diversification in a multi-asset portfolio construction
  • Leverage and other strategic issues

The course is aimed at those who want to learn how to apply general allocation techniques when constructing non-listed real estate vehicles portfolios as well as those who would like to improve their knowledge of portfolio construction in addition to their current responsibilities.

This could include investors and fund managers keen to learn more about portfolio construction from the investor’s perspective or those who work in other areas of fund management who want a wider perspective on how investors build portfolios prior to the investing and operational stages.

This course is open to members and non-members and it counts towards the INREV/ Henley Certificate for non-listed real estate investments.
