Sustainable care design for individuals on the autism spectrum

Northern Horizon invested in Villa Särkiniemi, a purpose-built care home in Kuopio, Finland, designed specifically to meet the sensory and environmental needs of people on the autism spectrum. Operated by Autism Foundation Finland, the 2,000 sqm facility provides 24-hour and supported living services for 34 residents across two buildings constructed from domestic wood — a material chosen for both its sustainability credentials and its acoustic properties.
