INREV Annual Fund Index slows to its lowest performance since 2012

The INREV Annual Fund Index delivered a 2020 annual return of 1.8%, revealing the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the funds’ performance.

This release includes 368 funds with a combined GAV of €287.9 billion as of the end 2020.

Key highlights:

  • The INREV Annual Fund Index delivered a 2020 annual return of 1.8%, a decrease from 6.1% reported in 2019
  • Despite the decrease in performance, the to-date impact of COVID-19 has been less severe than in the aftermath of the global financial crisis
  • Industrial / Logistics and Residential funds showed the strongest performance among all single sector strategies, with total 2020 returns of 11.3% and 8.8%, respectively
  • The performance gap between core (2.4%) and value added funds (-5.7%) widened significantly in 2020

The INREV index is a performance index for the European non-listed real estate funds investing 90% of GAV or more in Europe. The INREV Index measures annual Net Asset Value based performance. The information for the annual index goes back to 2001. The Annual Index is published in the third week of April.
