The European ODCE Index performance slows to 0.03% in 2020

The 2020 results were negatively impacted by high uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in H1 2020. 
The third annual consultation release of the European ODCE Index includes 14 funds, representing a gross asset value (GAV) of €35.1 billion. 

Key highlights:

  • After a weak first half of 2020, the INREV ODCE Index showed a strong recovery in H2 2020, delivering a positive annual return of 0.03%.
  • Gross Asset Value (GAV) of the INREV ODCE participating funds increased to €35.1 billion at the end of 2020, up by €3.5 billion since the end of 2019.
  • Offices continue to dominate the Index, with 43% GAV at the end of 2020. The retail allocations reduced further to 18%, giving way to the industrial/logistics sector, which is now in the second position with 22%.  
  • The performance calculation of the ODCE Annual Index has been updated to show the 4-quarter chain-linked performance for the year, which reflects the reporting practice of the participating funds.

The Index is wholly comprised of open end core commingled equity real estate funds that have a strategy to invest across pan Europe and across multiple sectors. Funds must comply with a strict eligibility criteria for four consecutive quarters in a row to be included in the index.
