Advanced Sustainability

6 AND 7 MAY 2026, LONDON
logo

The strategic importance of sustainability as part of investment decision-making requires institutional investors and managers to integrate climate risk, regulatory requirements and broader environmental and social considerations into investment strategies and asset management decisions. Our one-and-a-half-day Advanced Sustainability for Real Estate course enables those professionals that already have a good understanding of sustainability to strengthen their strategic approach and practical implementation. Through expert insights, real-world case studies and interactive discussions, participants will explore how sustainability factors influence portfolio strategy, asset value and investment decision-making.

Open for registration

The Attendance Fee is:
€1100 for INREV members
€1400 for non-members

If you are not an INREV member and wish to register, please contact INREV Academy

Learning goals

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of climate risk management, decarbonisation pathways, biodiversity considerations and the evolving regulatory landscape. The course also examines how sustainability considerations are incorporated into underwriting, valuations and investment frameworks.

Designed for experienced real estate professionals, the programme focuses on practical applications and peer exchange. A collaborative case study allows participants to apply their knowledge by negotiating sustainability-related investment decisions from different stakeholder perspectives.

An asset tour and group dinner provide additional opportunities for informal discussion and networking.

The course covers the following key areas:

  • Key drivers shaping sustainability in real estate
  • Current market developments and regional differences
  • Key ESG regulations affecting real estate
  • Physical and transition risk management
  • Challenges of decarbonising portfolios
  • Data availability challenges
  • Trade-offs and decision-making in decarbonisation projects
  • Real-world asset examples
  • Biodiversity
  • Research insights on value and performance
  • Incorporating environmental considerations into valuations and financial modelling
  • The role of social impact in real estate

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Assess the main drivers of sustainability in real estate and evaluate how regional market developments influence investor and manager approaches.
  • Navigate the evolving ESG regulatory environment affecting real estate investments.
  • Assess climate-related risks in real estate portfolios, including both physical and transition risks.
  • Identify practical approaches to decarbonising real estate portfolios and assets.
  • Evaluate biodiversity and broader environmental considerations in real estate development and asset management.
  • Understand how sustainability factors influence asset value, underwriting and investment decisions.
  • Understand how social impact can be integrated into real estate investment strategies.
  • Apply sustainability considerations in stakeholder negotiations through a practical case study.
